Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) is a network application protocol, which enables a device (computer/printer) to obtain an IP address allowing it to communicate on the network. Dynamic indicates that the IP address is temporary for the duration of a network connection and will change when a device is rebooted.
