How to find out what version of Windows you are running

Go to Start, select Run

Type WINVER and click OK

In Windows XP the following box will appear, as can be seen below the Operating System installed is Windows XP Professional. In this window you will also see what Service Pack is installed

In Windows 7 the following box will appear, as can be seen below the Operating System installed is Windows 7 Enterprise. In this window you will also see what Service Pack is installed
