How do I change the compute name on a Windows computer? 

1. Click Start  > and type  sysdm.cpl into the run box. Press Return or click OK
   
    
2. On the Computer Name tab select the option Change to rename the computer. 
3. If you have a Dell device change the Computer Name to the Service Tag number of the unit, the Serivce Tag is a 7 digit Alph-numeric ID, for example: ggty45j
4. If you do not have a Dell PC/Laptop enter the Serial Number of the device instead of the Serivce Tag.
5. Next select More
6. Type uds.nuigalway.ie in as the primary DNS suffix
7. Ensure Change primary DNS suffix is checked and press OK
