In order to gain external Internet access, all computing devices on the wired campus network must:
(a) be registered on the campus network
and
(b) route their outgoing internet traffic through the University proxy servers.
If you are experiencing difficulties accessing any external websites, or certain websites such as NUI Galway Library resources and subscription-based journals, please check that your computer has the correct proxy configuration set. Those settings are as follows:
Windows + Internet Explorer
Windows + Firefox
Macintosh + Firefox
Macintosh + Safari
Note: The following software applications require additional configuration by users - Skype, RealPlayer, Second Life and Spybot.
For Windows users using Internet Explorer, click on:

Note: The other text boxes should be blank. If there is text in any of them, first check the box, delete the text and then un-check the box again.
