How do I get a computer account?

Once your are given your Staff ID card from the Human Resources Department, please visit the ISS Service Desk to register for a computer account. ( Staff Registration Form)

For authorised persons not on the NUI Galway payroll or staff-sponsored visitors to NUI Galway, temporary access to computer resources is available.

How do I login to a computer in the University? 

After you have registered for a computer account you will now have your Username and Password.  The format for a staff  Username is derived from your staff/payroll number. The format is 7 digits followed by  s.  If your staff/payroll number is less then 7 digits, include zeros at the start.

Example: Staff/Payroll number = 12345, Staff login Username = 0012345s

Press  Ctrl  Alt  Del to get to the login screen.  (Press the Ctrl key, the Alt key and the Delete key at the same time.)  All Windows based computers attached to the Campus Network must authenticate to UDS (see image below).  Enter your Username and Password.  Click  OK to login.     
 

How do I login to my eMail Account?

Part of the computer account registration process with the Service Desk is getting an email account and an NUI, Galway email address. Login with the same Username and Password (as show above).

Format of Staff email address:  firstname.surnamenuigalway.ie, more information on email address format is available.

What do I do if I forget my password?

If you have forgotten your password, please visit the Service Desk in person to request a new password. For security reasons, it is necessary that you visit the Service Desk in person (phone call or email request will not be accepted). Please remember to bring your NUI, Galway ID card when you visit the Service Desk.

One click to Outlook Web Access

Mark Outlook Web Access as a Favorite in Internet Explorer 

1. Go to http://staffmail.nuigalway.ie/
2. From the Favorites menu, Choose Add to Favorites
3. The next time you open Internet Explorer, Click Favorites and simply click on Microsoft Outlook Web Access from the List that appears.

Optionally, in addition to using Outlook Web Access, you can set up email client software on your computer to access your email on-campus. Windows users should use Microsoft Outlook 2003 and Macintosh users should use Entourage. 

Information required to setup Outlook for on-campus use

• eMail account type = Microsoft Exchange Server
• Server name = EVS1.ac.nuigalway.ie
• Deliver new email to the following location: should read "Mailbox, username" where username = your name.

Information required to setup Entourage for on-campus use

• Domain = acdomain
• Exchange server = EVS1.ac.nuigalway.ie
• LDAP server name = scarlatti.ac.nuigalway.ie
