Connect a computer to the Internet using BlackBerry as a tethered modem
We recomend you do not use your BlackBerry as a tethered modem but instead use a
USB Modem, and the main reasons why are:
- The USB modem is capable of 3.6Mbps whereas the Blackberry is only capable of 384Kbps
- The USB modem is a more stable device than a Blackberry connected as a modem
- The USB modem drains far less battery power as the Blackberry goes into charging mode when it is connected and sucks up a lot of power
- The USB modem self installs when you plug it in, the blackberry needs to have blackberry desktop manager software installed to get Internet access to work
- The cost of adding the 3G tarrif to the blackberry sim will be €30 which is the exact amount a seperate sim for the USB modem will cost so there is no cost saving by using a blackberry
- Using the BlackBerry SIM for APNs other than BlackBerry.NET
will incur high charges and the tethered modem feature falls into this category.
