How to check IP configuration for NUIGWiFi - Windows XP

1. Click Start
   
   
2. Click Run
   
   
   
3. Type cmd and click OK 
   
   
   
4. A DOS window will open
   
   
   
5. Type ipconfig/all and press enter. Look for the heading Ethernet adapter Wireless Network Connection. You should see information similar to that in the image below.
   
   
   
6. Check for these
   Dhcp enabled …..Yes
   IP address should begin with 140.203
   DHCP server should be 1.1.1.1
   DNS server 140.203.9.1
   
   
7. If the above screen does not show the correct information you can reset by clicking on Start > Control Panel  > Network Connections.  Right click Wireless Network Connection, select Properties. You will see something similar to the dialog box below.
   
   
   
8. Click Internet Protocol TCP/IP, then click Properties.
   In order to connect to NUIGWiFi, Obtain IP automatically and Obtain DNS automatically should be selected
    
    
   
9. You may have a fixed IP and DNS typed in the window above if you are set up on a connection at home or elsewhere
   e.g
   IP address   192.168.1.246
   Subnet mask 255.255.255.0
   Default Gateway 192.168.1.1
   Preferred DNS Server 194.243.154.62
   If you do, take note of this information and then enter it in the Alternate configuration tab so that you can continue to use your other connection.
