Adarsh HJ
Adarsh obtained a BSc in Chemistry, Physics & Mathematics, MSc in Chemistry, Kuvempu University-SMV College, India and worked as a Project Assistant at IISc, Bangalore, India.His research area is in synthesising, characterizing, and developing functionalised bioadhesive formulations based on hyaluronan conjugates with musculoskeletal applications.In CÚRAM, Adarsh is working under the supervision of Prof. Abhay Pandit in collaboration with Dr David Eglin, AO Foundation, Davos, Switzerland.
Adriona Kelly
Adriona received a BSc in Pharmaceutical and Industrial Chemistry and a MSc in Biomedical Science. She was a research assistant in the University of Limerick and was also a senior R&D Technician in Merit Medical for two years developing advanced hydrophilic polymer coating. Her research interests include biomaterial tissue engineering, polymers, neuroscience and neural repair. Adriona is working under the supervision of Dr Manus Biggs.
Alexandre Trotier
Alexandre received a Bachelor of Life and Earth Science, specialising in Biology and a MSc in Gene, Cell and Tissue Biotherapies, University Paris - Est Créteil, France. His research interests include: biomaterial tissue engineering, polymers, neuroscience and neural repair. Alexandre is working on a CÚRAM project under the supervision of Dr Manus Biggs.
Ana Carolina Fradinho
Ana obtained a BSc and an MSc in Biomedical Engineering at Faculty of Sciences and Technology, NOVA University of Lisbon, Portugal and worked as a Research Trainee at the Tissue Engineering Laboratory, CENIMAT, NOVA University of Lisbon.Ana's research interests include stem cell research and tissue engineering strategies for neural and tendon repair.Ana is now undertaking a collaboration project with industry under the supervision of Dr. Dimitrios Zeugolis in the REMODEL Group.
Ana Lúcia Rebelo
Ana Lúcia obtained her MSc in Bioengineering (branch of Molecular Biotechnology) at University of Porto, Portugal. Her main research interests comprise biomaterials and their application in regenerative medicine, namely in the central nervous system. Currently she is working in the BrainMatTrain Project, under the supervision of Prof. Abhay Pandit at the National University of Ireland Galway (NUIG).
Andrea De Pieri
Andrea received a Bachelor Degree in Health Biotechnologies and Masters Degree in Medical Biotechnologies, Università degli Studi di Padova, Italy. Andrea's area of research is the fabrication of electrospun polymeric fibres and the development of scaffold-free tissue engineering strategies for tendon regeneration. He is now undertaking a PhD in collaboration with Proxy Biomedical, under the supervision of Dr Dimitrios Zeugolis in the REMODEL group.
Aniket Kshirsagar
Aniket received a Bachelor of Pharmacy from Pune University, India and a MSc in Engineering (Medical and Pharmaceutical Biotechnology) from IMC FH-Krems, University of Applied Sciences, Austria. His research interests include: biomaterial enhanced repair and regeneration, tissue engineering strategies for neural repair and regeneration following spinal cord injury. Aniket is working under the supervision of Prof. Abhay Pandit.
Anna Sorushanova
Anna obtained a BSc in Biomedical Science, National University of Ireland, Maynooth, Ireland. Her research interests include: cell culture, tissue engineering and regenerative medicine. Anna is working under the supervision of Dr Dimitrios Zeugolis in the REMODEL group.
Asrizal Abdul Rahman
Asrizal received a BSc in Industrial Chemistry, University of Technology, Malaysia. His research interests include: biomedical engineering and in cross-linking system for collagen. He is working under the supervision of Prof. Abhay Pandit.
Augusto Loffredo
Augusto received a Bachelor of Engineering in Biotechnological Engineering at UNESP, Brazil, and he studied one year of Biomedical Engineering in NUI Galway. He worked for four years in the Physics, Biophysics and Biomaterials lab of UNESP – Assis. His research interests include biomaterials, polymers and medical devices development. He is working under the supervision of Dr Manus Biggs on the development of microelectrodes for further medical applications.
Brendan Dolan
Brendan Dolan is a Doctoral Fellow with CÚRAM, based in the School of Political Science and Sociology under the supervision of Prof. Caroline McGregor, in collaboration with Prof. James Cunningham of Northumbria University. Brendan's PhD research topic is Medical Device Principal Investigators' Scientific, Knowledge, Technology Transfer and Social Impact Orientation. He works with both quantitative and qualitative methodologies ranging from statistical analysis and ethnographic studies.
Büşra Günay
Büşra has a BSc in Biology and an MSc in Biotechnology, Middle East Technical University (METU), Turkey. Her research area includes bone tissue engineering, biomaterials and regenerative medicine with orthopaedic applications.In CÚRAM, she is working under the supervision of Prof. Abhay Pandit in collaboration with Dr Sibylle Grad of AO Foundation, Davos, Switzerland.
Christina Ryan
Christina received a BSc in Neuroscience, University College Cork, Ireland and a MSc in Neuropharmacology, National University of Ireland, Galway, Ireland. Her research interests include: neuroscience, pharmacology and therapeutics, regenerative medicine and the use of biomaterials in regenerative medicine. Christina is working under the supervision of Dr Dimitrios Zeugolis in the REMODEL group.
Christopher Lally
Christopher holds a B.Sc (Hons) in Neuroscience from University College Dublin and an M.Sc in Biotechnology from NUI Galway. He has spent some time working as a process scientist with Bionua, a small biopharmaceutical start-up. Christopher's current focus at CÚRAM is the development of device-based solutions for unmet needs in multiple sclerosis, under the supervision of Prof. Abhay Pandit and Dr Una Fitzgerald.
Claudio Marella
Claudio received a MSc in Biomedical Engineering at Politecnico di Torino, Italy. His main research interest comprise of biomaterials and their application in nanomedicine for cancer treatment. Claudio is currently working under the supervision of Prof. Pandit on a project in collaboration with Prof. Michael O'Dwyer in the Apoptosis Research Centre, NUI Galway.

Domhnall Christopher Kelly
Domhnall obtained his BA (Mod) Biochemistry, Trinity College Dublin, and an MSc in Regenerative Medicine, NUI Galway. Following a placement in the Mayo Clinic, he returned to Ireland to commence a PhD as a member of the RCSI Tissue Engineering Research Group under the supervision of Prof. Fergal O’Brien, in collaboration with Prof. Caitriona O’Driscoll. His research focuses on the development of advanced scaffold based systems incorporating novel nanoparticles for the delivery of RNA-based therapeutics.
Eleni Chrysostomou
Eleni Chrysostomou is a PhD student at the National University of Ireland, Galway. Her research area is focused on stem cells and regenerative medicine specifically in neurodevelopment under the supervision of Prof. Uri Frank. She received her BSc with Honors and her Master’s degree in Tissue Engineering from Lancaster University, UK. She then worked for the Cancer Research UK testing inhibitors for their potential in the treatment of Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia.
Emer Power
Emer started her PhD work on understanding the mechanisms of post-operative pain, under the supervision of Prof. David Finn. She previously completed a BSc in Psychology at Maynooth University before undertaking an MSc in Neuropharmacology at NUI Galway. Her current project will focus on the mechanisms underlying post-operative pain following inguinal hernia repair as well as the development of an analgesic-eluting mesh in order to treat acute post-operative pain.
Enrico Bagnoli
Enrico obtained a BSc in Biomedical Engineering and a MSc in Bioengineering (curriculum Biomaterials and Rehabilitation Technologies) at the University of Genoa, Italy. In CÚRAM, his research is focused on the use of biomaterials in the cure of neurodegenerative diseases in particular Parkinson’s disease. Enrico is working on the BrainMatTrain project under the supervision of Dr Una Fitzgerald and Prof. Abhay Pandit.
Eugenia Pugliese
Eugenia obtained a Bsc and an Msc in Industrial Biotechnology, University of Bari (Aldo Moro), Italy.Her research area is in biomaterials (polymer films and nanoparticles) for biomedical applications. Her current area of research within CÚRAM is the development of collagen-based films. Eugenia is working under the supervision of Dr Dimitrios Zeugolis in the REMODEL group.
Gillian Murphy
Gillian graduated in 2012 with a BSc (Hons) in Pharmacology, National University of Ireland, Galway. She was a Chemistry Analytical Scientist at GSK, R&D Analytical and R&D Formulation Scientist at Mylan. She is undertaking an industrial-partnered project funded by Mylan. Key elements of her project in CÚRAM will be in the development of a novel sustained release drug delivery system. Gillian is working under the supervision of Prof. Abhay Pandit.
Grace Brennan
Grace obtained her BSc in Applied Physics in the University of Limerick. Her research areas include nanoplasmonics and nanotheranostics. Grace is based in the University of Limerick and is working on an industrial project under the supervision of Dr Tofail Syed and Dr Christophe Silien.
Grazia Marsico
Grazia received a BSc in Sanitary and Pharmaceutical Biotechnologies and a MSc in Medical Biotechnologies and Molecular Medicine, University of Bari-Aldo Moro, Italy. Her research interests include: tissue engineering, biomaterials, scaffolds and ischemia. She is working under the supervision of Prof. Abhay Pandit.
Gráinne Nielsen
Gráinne received a BSc in Anatomy from NUI Galway. She worked as a research and teaching assistant in the department of anatomy in NUI Galway before beginning her PhD under the supervision of Professor Peter Dockery. Her PhD project involves the development of a light sheet microscopy system and tissue clearing techniques to accompany it. Her research interests include cellular neuroscience and novel microscopy techniques.
Hugh Giffney
Hugh obtained a BSc (Hons) in Physiology,University College Dublin. His current area of research within CÚRAM is focusing on the establishment of an equine model of joint inflammation in which novel therapeutics will be utilised and characterised. He is under the supervision of Dr Daniel Crean and Prof. David Brayden, School of Veterinary Medicine, University College Dublin.
Héctor Capella Monsonís
Hector obtained his MSc Degree in Biotechnology at the Polytechnical University of Valencia (Spain) and worked as research assistant at University College of Dublin. His research area focused on the study and design of biomaterials and their biological response for biomedical applications. Hector has started his PhD in Mechanical and Biomedical Engineering at CÚRAM, in the REMODEL group under the supervision of Dr Dimitrios Zeugolis.
Ian Whelan
Ian obtained a degree in Mechanical Engineering, University of Limerick. He subsequently worked as an engineer in a leading medical device company working in automation and additive manufacturing and has since completed an MSc in Bioengineering from Trinity College Dublin under the supervision of Prof. Fergal O’Brien. Ian’s current research within CÚRAM is focussed on developing perfusable vascularised tissue engineered constructs using 3D Bioprinting under the supervision of Prof. Daniel Kelly.
Ignacio Sallent
Ignacio obtained a BSc in Biology from the University of Barcelona, Spain and an MSc in Biomedical Engineering from Imperial College London.Ignacio's area of research is in biomaterials and tissue engineering for musculoskeletal tissues. He is working on the Tendon Therapy Train Project under the supervision of Dr Dimitrios Zeugolis in the REMODEL group.
Ivor Geoghegan
Ivor was awarded a Science degree and completed an MSc in Biomedical Science at NUI Galway. He is undertaking a PhD in Biomedical Engineering entitled “Investigations into bone and cartilage cell mechanosensory mechanisms” under the supervision of Prof. Laoise McNamara in the Mechanobiology Research Group in the Discipline of Biomedical Engineering and in collaboration with Dr David Hoey at Trinity College Dublin.
James Britton
James received a BSc in Physiology and a MSc in Regenerative Medicine, National University of Ireland, Galway. As part of his studies he undertook a research project in the group of Prof. Abhay Pandit investigating the regenerative capacity of Xenopus tadpoles after spinal cord injury. Within CÚRAM he is working under the supervision of Dr Manus Biggs. His research interests include: nerve regeneration, tissue engineered 3D scaffolds, piezoelectric biomaterials and physiological assays.
Jennifer Lorigan
Jennifer studied natural sciences at Trinity College Dublin, specialising in zoology, and completed her MSc. in tissue engineering in 2015. She is working on the development of a 3D model of the respiratory tract incorporating multiple cell types, with potential applications for drug-testing, disease modelling and therapeutics. She is a member of the Tissue Engineering Research Group in RCSI, under the supervision of Prof. Sally-Ann Cryan, Prof. Fergal O’Brien, and Dr Cian O’Leary.
Jose Antonio Monterru
Jose obtained a Mechanical Engineer degree in 2003 at Instituto Tecnologico de Queretaro, and a Masters in Mechanical Design at the Centro de Ingenieria y Desarrollo Industrial (CIDESI) in Mexico. In 2010 he moved to GE Aviation holding activities as a Stress and Life Management Engineer. In September 2013, he commenced a Masters in Turbulence held in France, within 3 Engineering Schools (ECL, ENSIP and ENSMA). Currently he is working under the supervision of Dr Nathan Quinlan on a CÚRAM industry project.
João Coentro
João received a MSc in Bioengineering- Molecular Biotechnology, University of Porto, Portugal. His research area is in cell-guiding collagen-based scaffolds for regenerative medicine application. He is working under the supervision of Dr Dimitrios Zeugolis in the REMODEL group.
Joëlle Bizeau
Joëlle holds two masters degrees, one in Chemical Engineering and one in Fundamental and Applied Chemistry. She is interested in the relationship between chemistry and biology, and fascinated by the application range of nano-systems in medicine, particularly their capacity in targeting specific sites to provide controlled drug release. Joëlle is working in the BrainMatTrain Project, under the supervision of Prof. Abhay Pandit at the National University of Ireland Galway (NUIG).
Juhi Samal
Juhi received a Bachelor of Technology in Biotechnology, CET, Odisha, India and a Masters of Technology in Biotechnology and Biochemical Engineering, IIT Kharagpor, India. Her research interests include: 3D capillary network, formation on scaffolds, silk materials, microparticles in drug delivery and fish immunology. She is working under the supervision of Prof. Abhay Pandit.
Kieran Fuller
Kieran received a BSc in Biochemistry and a MSc in Biomedical Science, National University of Ireland, Galway. His research interests include: hernia biology, nanotechnology and electrospinning. He is working under the supervision of Dr Dimitrios Zeugolis in the REMODEL group.
Kieran Joyce
Kieran graduated with a Bachelor of Medical Sciences as part of an integrated MB PhD program in NUI Galway.In CÚRAM, he will investigate the glycoprofile of the intervertebral disc in degeneration under the supervision of Prof. Abhay Pandit.
Kyriakos Spanoudes
Kyriakos completed his studies as a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine, Aristotle University, Thessaloniki, Greece. His research interests include: equine orthopaedics, regenerative medicine, tissue engineering and biomaterials. He is working under the supervision of Dr Dimitrios Zeugolis in the REMODEL group.
Luis Delgado
Luis received a BSc in Mechanical Engineering and a MSc in Material Science, Technical University of Catalonia, Spain. His research interests include: wound healing, hernia repair, host response, collagen, biomaterials and tissue engineering. He is working under the supervision of Dr Dimitrios Zeugolis in the REMODEL group.
Mangesh Morey
Mangesh received a BSc in Microbiology and a MSc in Biotechnology, Sant Gadge Baba Amravati University, India. His research interests include biomaterials and tissue engineering. He is working under the supervision of Prof. Abhay Pandit.
Marc Antoni Fernández Yagüe
Marc is a PhD student in Dr Manus Biggs’ lab and his research focuses on the development of functional electroactive materials for muskuloskeletal tissue regeneration and repair. He obtained an MSc Degree in Materials Science and BSc Degrees in Materials Engineering and Mechanical Engineering and he has worked for four years as a researcher of BIBITE Biomaterials Research Group in Barcelona. His interests include MEMS platforms, cell-biomaterial interfaces, bioelectricity and electroactive nanocomposites.
Maura Tilbury
Maura is from Kildare and studied Microbiology at NUI Galway. She went on to do a Masters in Biopharmaceutical Science in Sligo and has just started her PhD at the beginning of July 2015 at NUI Galway working with Dr Gerard Wall. This research will exploit the tool set of E. coli for production of recombinant proteins tailored for targeted delivery of therapeutics.
Megan Goldrick
Megan obtained an undergraduate BSc with honours in Podiatric Medicine from the National University of Ireland, Galway in 2015.In CÚRAM, she is a Doctoral Candidate under the supervision of Dr Georgina Gethin and Professor Caroline McIntosh in the School of Nursing and Midwifery.Her main research interest is medical devices and their futuristic applications in wound care.
Mohamed El Amri
Mohamed received a B.Sc. in Biological Sciences from St. Joseph's College, in New York City. Mohamed's general area of research is Developmental Biology and Regenerative Medicine. Prior to his masters, he was mainly involved in research investigating developmental cell signalling mechanisms. In CÚRAM, under the supervision of Dr Gerhard Schlosser, he will be studying the role of MARCKS-like proteins in Xenopus spinal cord development.
Mohamed Gouse
India and an M.Eng. in Aeronautical Engineering, University of Limerick, Ireland. He has a background in Computer Aided Engineering and experience in diverse design/analysis. He worked in R.G.B.S. Inc. as a Junior CAE Engineer. Currently he is working on a CÚRAM industry project, finding new metallic alloys and solutions for fine needle technology. He is working under the supervision of Dr Tofail Syed
Mohsen Hassanzadeh Moghimi
Mohsen received a BSc in Aerospace Engineering, Amirkabir University of Technology, Tehran, Iran and an MSc in Aerospace Propulsion, Sharif University of Technology,Tehran. His research interests include: space propulsion, computational fluid dynamics. Within CÚRAM, Mohsen is working on an industry project under the supervision of Dr Nathan Quinlan.
Naledi Shologu
Naledi received a BSc (Honours) in Medical Biotechnology, Institute of Technology Sligo and a MSc in Biomedical Science, National University of Ireland Galway. Her research interests include: stem cell research, tissue engineering and regenerative medicine. She is working under the supervision of Dr Dimitrios Zeugolis in the REMODEL group.
Niranjan Kotla
Niranjan received a BPharm, Osmania University, India and a MPharm in Pharmaceutical Sciences-Quality Assurance, LPU, India. After graduating, he worked as a Research Fellow at InStem, NCBS-India developing bio-based oral therapeutics for Ulcerative Colitis. His research interests include biomaterials, nanotechnology, polymer chemistry and oral drug delivery. Currently, he is working on the delivery of therapeutics for inflammatory diseases under the supervision of Prof. Abhay Pandit and Dr Yury Rochev.
Oisín Byrne
Oisín graduated with a BSc and an M.E in Biomedical Engineering from University College Dublin. For his final year thesis he developed a new method of 3D printing customisable actuators out of soft materials. He is currently working on a CÚRAM industry project with Neograft Inc. to begin research in the area of vascular exo-scaffolds. He is under the supervision of Dr Eoin O’Cearbhaill.
Paolo Contessotto
Paolo received a BSc in Biotechnology and a MSc in Pharmaceutical Biotechnology, University of Padua, Italy. His research interests include biomaterials in tissue engineering and myocardial infarction. He is working under the supervision of Prof. Abhay Pandit.
Peter McGlynn
Peter received a BSc in Applied Physics, Dublin City University and an MSc in Key Enabling Technologies, National University of Ireland, Galway. His research interests include: laser technology, advanced manufacturing, advanced materials, microelectronics, microfluidics and biomaterials. Currently, he is working on a CÚRAM project to develop a biomaterials manufacturing testbed using additive and subtractive processes for scalable production. He is working under the supervision of Dr Gerard O’Connor.
Rachel Ronan
Rachel received a BSc (Hons) in Neuroscience, University College Cork, Ireland. Her research interest is spinal cord repair. She is working under the supervision of Dr Siobhan McMahon and Prof. Abhay Pandit.
Rita Peixoto
Rita obtained a BSc in Biological Engineering and a MSc in Biological Engineering, University of Minho, Portugal. Her work in CÚRAM focuses on wound healing. She is working under the supervision of Dr Dimitrios Zeugolis in the REMODEL group.
Sally Ryan
Sally obtained a BSc in Industrial Biochemistry from University of Limerick 2016.Sally's research is aimed at developing minimally invasive devices for targeted DNA and protein drug delivery. This includes the selection and production of relevant proteins, incorporating them into matrices to allow delivery using devices on the market to improve release rates and minimise repeat physician interventions.
Salomé Guillaumin
Salomé completed her bachelor degree in cell biology and physiology from university Blaise Pascal in Clermont-Ferrand, France and her master degree in regenerative medicine from University Paris 13, France. Her area of research is the use of mesenchymal stem cells for organ regeneration, with biomaterial devices to enhance the regeneration process. Salomé is working under the supervision of Dr Dimitrios Zeugolis in the REMODEL group.
Sarah Guerin
Sarah received a BSc in Applied Physics from the University of Limerick, during which she carried out research with Analog Devices International on the advanced characterisation of polymer dielectrics. Her research interests include computational physics and biological piezoelectric materials. Her research with CÚRAM involves the development of piezoelectric medical devices using crystallised biomolecules. She is supervised by Dr Damien Thompson, Dr Tofail Syed and Prof. Tewfik Soulimane.
Sarah Jarrin
Sarah completed her Bachelor’s Degree in Biochemistry at St. Mary’s College of Maryland in the United States. For her senior thesis, she used an optogenetic technique to manipulate interneurons in the striatum of mice with a model of Parkinson’s disease. She is now starting her PhD at NUI Galway in the department of pharmacology and therapeutics as a member of Prof. David Finn’s lab. Here she will continue to use optogenetic methodology to study neural circuits involved in pain processing.
Sarah Markham
Sarah received a BSc in Mathematics and Physics and an MSc in Biomedical Device Materials from the University of Limerick. Her research interests include novel biomedical instrumentation, medical imaging and the physical properties of biomaterials. Sarah is based in the University of Limerick and is working under the joint supervision of Dr Tofail Syed and Dr Christophe Silien of the University of Limerick and Dr Joanna Bauer of Wroclaw University of Technology, Poland.
Secil Demir
Secil received a BSc in Molecular Biology and Genetics, Istanbul University, Turkey and a MSc in Biotechnology from Yeditepe University, Turkey. Her main field of interest lies in regenerative medicine with special emphasis on molecular biology techniques such as gene therapy for tissue regeneration. Secil is working under the supervision of Prof. Abhay Pandit.
Shanshan Du
Shanshan Du received a BSc in Biology Science and a MSc in Physiology. She spent a number of years as a TEM/SEM technician in Tsinghua University, Beijing, China. Her research interests include neuroscience, neural repair and regenerative medicine. Shanshan is working on a CÚRAM project under the supervision of Prof. Timothy O'Brien.

Sravanthi Bandla
Sravanthi received a Bachelor of Pharmacy, Master of Pharmacy in Pharmaceutics and an MSc in Biomedical Science.She worked as an intern and a contract employee at the Novartis health care, India and as an assistant professor at Vignan Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences, India. Her areas of interest include biomaterials, drug delivery and neuroscience.Sravanthi is working under the supervision of Dr Una FitzGerald.
Séamus Caulfield
Séamus received his B.Sc. in Chemical and Pharmaceutical Sciences from DCU. He has recently undertaken a PhD researching polymer-based buccal delivery vehicles for peptide drugs in the Department of Pharmaceutical and Medicinal Chemistry. His supervisor is Prof. Andreas Heise.
Sílvia Cabré Giménez
Sílvia obtained a BSc in Human Biology and a MSc in Pharmaceutical Industry and Biotechnology, Pompeu Fabra University, Barcelona, Spain. She worked in the pain research group in ESTEVE S.A. Her research interests are focused on neuropharmacology and the use of biomaterials in neurodegenerative diseases such as Parkinson’s disease. She is working in CÚRAM under the supervision of Dr Eilis Dowd and Prof. Abhay Pandit.
Vaibhav Patil
Vaibhav received a BSc in Biotechnology, Mumbai University in India and an MSc in Neuropharmacology, National University of Ireland, Galway, Ireland. After completing his Master's degree he worked as a research associate in CÚRAM. His research interest is spinal cord injury and inflammation. He is working under the supervision of Prof. Abhay Pandit.
Vaishali Chugh
Vaishali obtained a BSc in Chemistry and MSc in Chemistry (Specialization in Organic Chemistry) from University of Delhi, Hansraj College, India. She has also worked as Project Fellow in IIT, Kanpur and University of Delhi, India. Her research interests include Designing Nucleic Acid Responsive Delivery System. Vaishali is working under the supervision of Prof. Abhay Pandit.
Valeria Graceffa
Valeria obtained her BSc in Biotechnology at the University of Palermo, Italy and an MSc in Molecular and Cellular Medical Biotechnology at University Vita-Salute San Raffaele in Milan, Italy. After graduating, she worked for the Department of Infectious Disease of San Raffaele Scientific Institute in Milan and for the Veneto Eye Bank in Venice, Italy. She joined the CÚRAM team last July as a PhD student under the supervision of Dr Dimitrios Zeugolis. Among her research interests is cartilage regeneration.
Veasna Sum-Coffey
Veasna was awarded a BSc in Biotechnology and a MSc in Biomedical Science, National University of Ireland, Galway.Her PhD is funded by Science Foundation Ireland and CÚRAM, and it is a collaborative work with Stryker Instruments.
Veronica Alamilla Marroquin
Veronica obtained her BSc in Biological Sciences at the Northern Kentucky University, USA and her MSc in Neuropharmacology at the National University of Ireland Galway (NUIG). Her research interests include neurodegenerative diseases, regenerative neuroscience, development of biomaterials and pharmacology. In the BrainMatTrain project Veronica is developing biomaterials and novel treatments for Parkinson´s Disease. She is working under the supervision of Dr. Eilís Dowd and Prof. Abhay Pandit at NUIG.
Vincent Casey
Vincent is a graduate of NUI Galway, where he received his Bachelor’s degree in Biomedical Engineering. In his final year, Vincent completed a project investigating flow of surgical smoke, a by-product created during different cutting modalities (e.g. Radiofrequency ablation, ultrasonic, laser). Vincent is now undertaking a PhD in collaboration with industry, under the supervision of Prof. Laoise McNamara.
Vivien Stuettgen
Vivien, originally from Bonn, Germany, was awarded with a BSc (Hons.) in pharmacology from UCD this September and just started her PhD in Prof. David Brayden’s lab. In CÚRAM her research will focus on buccal delivery of peptides and in collaboration with Dr Eoin O’Cearbhaill she is aiming at designing a dissolvable microneedle construct prototype for buccal delivery of a stable GLP-1 analogue.
Zhuning Wu
Zhuning received a Bachelor of Medicine in Clinical Medicine, Nanchang University, China and a MSc in Biopharmaceutical Engineering, University College Dublin, Ireland. Her research interests include: collagen based cell delivery system for cartilage regeneration. She is working under the supervision of Dr Dimitrios Zeugolis in the REMODEL group.
