Over the last 9 years, Dr Margariti has developed significant expertise in stem cell biology, with particular emphasis on cell reprogramming, chromatin remodeling, cell signaling and endothelial cell biology. She has received postdoctoral training in the Cardiovascular Division of the BHF Centre of Excellence at King’s College London (KCL). In 2013 Dr Margariti was appointed as a Lecturer in the Centre of Experimental Medicine (CEM) in Queen’s University Belfast (QUB) and in 2017 was promoted to Senior Lecturer.
Dr Margariti has published a number of high- quality papers, and the impact of her research has been recognized by several prestigious awards. Dr Margariti’s lab has now generated a large number of induced pluripotent stem cells from patients with diabetes and cardiovascular disease based on novel technologies and the main goal of her research is to use these as models to develop cutting edge strategies to treat vascular diseases, and report the first-discovered therapies to be applied for Regenerative and Personalized Medicine. Dr Margariti’s lab has received external funding from MRC, BBSRC and BHF.

The title of Dr Margariti’s talk is "Cell Reprogramming; A Powerful Tool to Treat Endothelial Dysfunction in Diabetic & Cardiovascular Disease Patients"
