Medical Clinical Attachments
Dear student
Clinical Medicine begins following the Introductory Clinical Course. The Department of Medicine has been looking at the clinical attachment placements in light of increasing student numbers, student feedback and core teaching. In an effort to address the issues raised I have rescheduled clinical attachments as follows;
(a) There will be 10 clinical placements between MB 3, MB4 and MB 6.
(b) These 10 placements are divided into 5 medical and 5 surgical.
© Each placement is for 4 weeks and are scheduled as follows
Year 3 Term 3 2 blocks (April and May)
Year 4 Term 1 3 blocks (September/October/November)
Year 4 Term 3 2 blocks (April May)
Year 6 Term 1 3 blocks (September/October/November)
(d) In medicine each student will rotate through 5 modules as follows
1 Respiratory/Elderly care
2 Cardiology/Haematology
3 Neurology/Immunology
4 Gastroenterology/Oncology/Palliative care
5a Renal/Rheumatology
5b Metabolic
(e) There will be 5 students attached to each group.
