PHD RESEARCH SCHOLARSHIP OPPORTUNITIES IN INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY

There are several research scholarship programmes that would suit excellent candidates who are interested in conducting PhD research in Galway. Because their deadlines are staged, you can apply for them in succession.

  1. Hardiman and Ryan Research Scholarships: Fully funded for 4 years, with a stipend of €16,000 p.a. plus fees, available in NUI Galway only. Next deadline: 17:00 (GMT) Friday, 20th November 2015. Application details and further information avaialble at  www.nuigalway.ie/hardiman-scholarships/

  2. Irish Research Council Scholarships: The Government of Ireland Postgraduate Scholarship Scheme and the Enterprise Partnership Scholarship Scheme. The deadline is expected to be in early February 2016. More information here.

  3. NUI Galway Scholarships: The College of Engineering & Informatics awards a limited number of scholarships each year. The deadline is expected to be in May/June 2016. More information http://www.nuigalway.ie/engineering-informatics/research/scholarshipscheme/ 

Application procedures differ for each programme, but in all cases you should begin by identifying and contacting a member of academic staff whose research interests are aligned with yours, to discuss potential research project topics.
