This programme provides a comprehensive introduction to Quality Assurance and Quality Management concepts and practices, for those interested in a career in Quality, within Industry or the Service sector.Programme aims and objectives. The aim of this one year programme is to provide education in Quality Management and Engineering. The programme covers the technological and managerial aspects of Quality Assurance and incorporates formal lectures, laboratory and tutorial sessions as well as industry-related or research based project work.
Minimum* Bachelors Degree OR appropriate accredited Diploma/Cert with 3 years relevant experience.
* All participants must have at least 2 years of University level mathematics/statistics OR pass an entrance examination which is held on the last Friday of June.
There may be a limit on the number of places available. Where the number of qualified applicants exceeds this limit, places may, at the discretion of the Course Committee, be assigned on a random basis. A first round of offers is usually made in July. Later offers may be made at any time up to September.
There are four examinations in December, five in May. A ’quality in practice’ report is submitted in May and a quality based project submitted in June and final examination results are available in September.
Each participant who is unemployed at programme commencement is encouraged to find a work-experience placement. The recommended minimum duration of this placement is 6 months, and students are paid by the organisation concerned. Although responsibility for securing a placement rests with the student, the University Placement Office is available for advice and specific assistance with arranging interviews etc. In recent years, all unemployed students have secured placements.
