Project Specific Research Interests & Roles
EU FP7 CoralFISH Project: assessment of the interaction between corals, fish and fisheries, in order to develop monitoring and predictive modelling tools for ecosystem based management in the deep waters of Europe and beyond.
Griffith Research Project: develop habitat suitability models of key deep-sea habitats at the regional scale in Western Ireland; decipher which physico-chemical environmental variables best account for the presence of target species/ecosystems; generate terrain variables by analysing the Irish National Seabed Survey high resolution bathymetric dataset; determine hydrographic variables using advanced 3-d oceanographic modelling; validate predicted species/ecosystem occurrence through
in situ observation with a Remotely Operated Vehicle or a Campod.
