Equality Strategy

The Equality Strategy for 2011 is currently being developed.

The Equality Strategy 2007-2009 was developed following extensive consultation with staff and lengthy discussion at the University Equality Committee, and approved by Údarás na hOllscoile.  Whilst the term 'Equality' can cover many issues, the primary focus of this strategy is Equality of Opportunity in relation to employment but also recognises the need to promote an environment which provides students with Equality of Opportunity to study. 

As a top class University, our vision is one which sees the University becoming a model of excellence in the area of Equality of Opportunity in the Higher Education Sector.  NUI Galway is committed to valuing our workforce for its diversity; we are also committed to Equality of Opportunity for students.

The work of the Equality Committee will now focus on implementing this strategy.
