Ireland is on the network of major international airlines. Therefore, connections are frequent and regular from all parts of the world. The major airports are at Dublin (on the east coast) and Shannon (on the west coast, approximately 130 km from Galway). Galway also has a smaller airport of its own, with flights to and from Dublin, Cork, the UK (Edinburgh, London Luton, London Southend and Manchester) and France (Lorient - summer timetable only). Galway airport is approximately 8 km from the city. A taxi service is available from the airport.
Dublin Airport is situated around 10 km north of Dublin city. You can take a taxi to the City Centre, but the special "Airlink" bus is much cheaper and just as quick. Departing from directly outside the Arrivals building, this bus leaves every 10 minutes on weekdays and every 20 minutes on Sundays. It connects the Airport with Busáras (the central bus station). There is a less frequent (half-hourly) service which will bring you as far as Heuston Railway Station. Check the Dublin Bus website for timetables and further information. You can also travel directly from the Airport to Galway - see the section headed "Dublin to Galway - by Bus" (below).
