A. For 2015/2016 onwards, all official module marks are returned via Blackboard Grade Centre. Official marks return via Blackboard Grade Centre has the benefit of showing the course instance for each student taking a particular module. This online marks return system facilitates an easier way to track component assessments within the module and also to reduce risk to the University with the whitesheet system, which had grown beyond its capabilities. Refer to the step-by-step guide provided by CELT.
Q. How do I know that my marks are successfully returned?
A.
Click for information on performing the Mark Extraction
On clicking the Perform Extract button, you should be brought back to the Grade Centre and see a green banner confirming the extract (sample shown below)
If you need to check that the extract was performed, go to
Mark Approval and Transfer, where you will see a record of all extractions from that module code to date (sample shown below).

A. Examiners are asked to return a mark to the Blackboard Grade Centre in the 2nd Sit Mark column without any consideration of capping. Capping will be applied automatically by the Examinations Office immediately after the marks return deadline.
Q. When should the Final Mark column be used for Autumn marks?
A. This applies to a very small minority of cases i.e. where there was no 1st Sitting for the course instance in the Summer. For example, a PG course that didn’t go to the Summer exam board. In that case, as a 1st sitting mark has never been returned and the mark should be input to the Final Marks column.
