BE in energy systems engineering
The National Development Plan 2007-2013 and the current Programme for Government have each identified Ireland's future energy needs as a national priority. A new BE degree programme in Energy Systems Engineering is being offered in response to a growing demand for professional engineers for work in the energy sector that encompasses national and international markets including Energy Sources (Wind, Wave, Solar), Power generation, Pharmaceutical, ICT, Manufacturing, Biomedical etc.
Energy Systems Engineering is a multidisciplinary programme, covering fundamental engineering knowledge and skills in such areas as energy conversion, electrical power systems and energy management (buildings, transport, industry, etc), along with modules on energy sources, energy policy and economics and associated environmental issues.
