Profile

• Aideen graduated from Trinity College Dublin in 2001 with a B.Sc. (Hons.) in Occupational Therapy.  Since then undertook post graduate study and was awarded a Masters Degree in Occupational Health and Safety in 2008 and a Masters degree in Public Health in 2010.  In 2010, Aideen also gained a Postgraduate Diploma in Academic Practice.
  
• Aideen currently teaches on the undergraduate Occupational Therapy degree programme at NUI Galway and commenced the role in August 2008.  The main focus of her teaching is mental health.
  
• Prior to 2008, Aideen worked in a variety of clinical and non-clinical roles.  Aideen has worked as a mental health clinician with homeless clients and culturally diverse populations including Aboriginal communities in Northern Australia.  Aideen also has extensive experience as a manual handling advisor with Home Care Services of New South Wales, Australia.
  
• Aideen has undertaken policy work at Federal Government level in an Australian context, representing OT AUSTRALIA and Australian therapists in the “Helping Children with Autism” initiative.
  
• Aideen is the Irish delegate to the Council of Occupational Therapists in European Countries (COTEC) since May 2009.
