Health and Disease I is a taught module for medical students in semester 2, year 2 of the undergraduate medical programme.
The course accounts for 12 credits (European Credit transfer System) of the second medical year.
The Module is delivered by the Disciplines of Pathology, Bacteriology and Public Health and Health Promotion.

Students will be introduced to the idea that mechanistic knowledge underpins the analysis and solving of clinical problems. The module will demonstrate that molecular, cellular, microbiological and environmental mechanisms underpin the development and progression of disease and will highlight the interplay between these factors. Students will be introduced to the principles of health promotion and of disease prevention and treatment for both individuals and populations. BACK TO TOP
