Rahiman S Faiyaz, a PhD student (Liver Regeneration) in Physiology, College of Medicine, is a ’James Hardiman’ scholar at NUI Galway for the year 2011. His research focuses on the role of complement components C3a and C5a in Liver Regeneration after Partial Hepatectomy (Mice model) under the supervision of Prof. Antony Wheatley (Head, Dept. of Physiology) at Microcirculation Laboratory. Faiyaz has previously worked as Application Specialist at QPS Bioserve, a CRO from Hyderabad, India. He holds a Masters degree in Immunology from University of Otago, New Zealand where he worked on novel Tuberculosis vaccine candidates based on Virus-like particles (VLP) and Ag85. Mr. Faiyaz has an Engineering degree (honors) in Biotechnology from Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University, Hyderabad, India. e-mail:
