The Irish Association of Speech and Language Therapists (IASLT) are the professional body authorised with accrediting the course.
IASLT accreditation allows you to work as a Speech and Language Therapist in Ireland. However, if you wish to work in another country, you will need to contact the SLT professional body in that country. If you wish to work in the United Kingdom, you need to be registered with The Health Professions Council (HPC), the regulatory body for health professions in the United Kingdom. Though the content of speech and language therapy education is similar throughout all universities, the various modules of the course are taught at different periods of time. Therefore it is not possible to transfer from another university (either from the UK or within the Republic of Ireland) to NUI Galway.
