Background and Qualifications
My research is concerned with adult second language acquisition, teaching and learning methodologies, translation methodologies and teaching.
More specifically, I am interested in understanding how verbal constraints influence event template comprehension and sentence production, both in first and second language in the case of French and English. Improved understanding of how the constraints work would allow better translation and second language teaching methodologies could be devised and applied.
Prior to beginning this PhD, I completed a B.A. (Hons.) in English and Teaching French as a Foreign Language in Université Nancy II and Université de Bourgogne, Dijon. I then went on to graduate from an M.A. in Advanced Language Skills in the National University of Ireland, Galway, for which I studied translation and interpretation. The dissertation I wrote for the M. A. was entitled Translation of Verbal Structures in Second Language Learners of French and English: a Comparative Study.
