Background and Qualifications
Margaret Rodden works as a Practice Tutor in the on-site Speech & Language Therapy clinic in Áras Moyola. Previous to this position, she worked as a Senior Speech and Language Therapist with the HSE (1985 - 2009) in a variety of positions including general community care work in Galway City and North Connemara, adults in acute care in University Hospital, Galway and children with physical disability.
She obtained a BS (Hon) in Remedial Linguistics from Trinity College Dublin in 1985. She is currently completing her Higher Diploma in Clinical Teaching in NUIG.
Her specialist area of interest is in the area of voice. She is actively involved in the Irish Special Interest Group and has organised conferences with international speakers on voice over the last three years. In addition, she co-ordinates the treatment programs for patients with Parkinson's disease in Galway city and county.
Responsibilities
Margaret has responsibility for the management of the HSE / NUIG on-site Speech and Language Therapy clinic in Áras Moyola. She is actively involved in preparing SLTs in training for their placements in the on-site clinic and their outreach clinical placement through group and individual tutorials. She works closely with the Practice Education Co-ordinator in NUIG and liaises with the Practice Educators prior to and during the SLTs in training clinical placements.
