My research group has been investigating Irish lakes, turloughs, rivers and mixohaline lagoons for over three decades. Among the topics researched have been: eutrophication of lakes; species invasions; plankton dynamics; ecology of aquatic invertebrates (such as leeches and aquatic insects); amphibian breeding populations; fish parasites; and the ecology of threatened freshwater fish populations. Currently the research group comprises of three units:
