Molecular Evolution & Systematics Laboratory
Head ; Dr. Grace McCormack, Ryan Institute, NUI, Galway
We are interested in evolution. We explore evolutionary relationships at different taxonomic levels and in different organisms. The main projects currently running in the lab are focused on the molecular evolution of HIV-1 AND marine sponges.
Other areas of interest include population, reproductive and developmental biology of marine sponges, evolution of sponge morphological plasticity; marine biotechnology and biodiscovery, echinoderm biology & systematics, molecular epidemiology of animal infectious diseases...............
