Biography
Cathal Kilcline is a post-doctoral research fellow at the National University of Ireland, Galway and the Université Claude Bernard Lyon 1, France.
Cathal holds a degree in Commerce International with French, a Masters in French and a PhD analysing representations of the Mediterranean in French popular culture. He has published widely on sport and leisure practices, and French film and literature. He has presented his research at international conferences in the UK, France and the United States, and has contributed to national media in France.
As a CARA Postdoctoral Mobility Fellow, his current research is co-funded by the Irish Research Council for the Humanities and Social Sciences and the EU Commission, through the Marie Curie programme. He is working in conjunction with Dr. Philip Dine, Head of French at NUI Galway, and Professor Thierry Terret, director of the Centre de Recherche et d’Innovation sur le Sport at Université Claude Bernard, Lyon, France. He is a member of the Society for French Studies, the Society for Francophone Postcolonial Studies, and the Association des Études Françaises et Francophones d’Irlande.
