the Geographical society at nui galway
There are an enormous number of sporting, social and cultural clubs and societies within the University, which have as their goal the provision of worthwhile and enjoyable leisure activities for all students, and which also serve to open up new circles of friends and acquaintances outside of academic study. Not least among the array of societies is the Geography Society.
|
The Geography Society is run by students who are assisted by the Department. Its main aim is to enjoy geography as a discipline and to strive for an understanding of differing viewpoints.
Each year the society runs a series of public lectures, with high profile guests invited to give a lecture on a modern topic with a geographical perspective. The GEOG SOC has a reputation far and wide for organising a wide variety of events. The society has also run a series of debates, quizes and guest lectures this year, along with many all-important social nights! For further information for the 2010-2011 academic year calender of events contact
Tony Johnston, the current society auditor or any of the graduates.
