Starting from Spring, 2001, two courses in GIS have been available for undergraduate students at NUI, Galway: TI223 Introduction to GIS TI311Advanced GIS
TI223 is designed to help students to understand concepts about "What is a GIS?" and also acquire some experiences in designing maps with a GIS software.
TI311 helps students to understand that a GIS can be used not only to make maps based on existing information, but also to produce new information with its analyses functions. Thus it is useful in scientific research and practical planning. Students will also understand that data in GISs are not always correct and precise, and thus care should be taken when using GIS data.
For internal users, course materials are available on campus intranet under "Q-Drive/Geography/Zhang."
Graduate students are accepted based on research and scholarships. Contact Dr. Chaosheng Zhang for more information.
