Yaxin has developed a very strong interest in programming since his first programming course C Programming Language Design in Wuhan University. Yaxin’s favorite programming language is C++/CLI, the only programming language that is capable to bridge the most powerful and efficient language C++ and the most dynamic and extensible executive platform Microsoft .NET Framework in commercial software architecture.
After graduation from Wuhan University with a B.S. of GIS in 2005, Yaxin went to study in the Institute of Geographic Sciences and Natural Resources Research of Chinese Academy of Sciences and had been a software engineer intern in SuperMap GIS Technologies, Inc., the most influential and dominant GIS company in China. Commercial software development greatly broadened Yaxin’s view in programming and software design and he was primarily responsible for GIS component development before he went to Ireland.

Interaction of soil hydrology, land use and climate change and their impact on soil quality
Yaxin is currently engaged in the SoilH Project conducted by EPA and he hopes to use his GIS expertise to analyse the five threats to Irish soil, which are erosion, compaction, surface sealing, landslide and loss of organic matter. This research would reveal how the above mentioned factors affect the soil in Ireland. A GIS risk assessment tool is to be developed by Yaxin to facilitate basic understandings of how the soil can be affected.
