M.Litt Research
Niall graduated in 2005 with an honors degree in geography and psychology from NUI Galway, where he was accepted into the M.Litt postgraduate course. He obtained his M.Litt degree in 2009. His research focused on the concept of climate change and how coastal locations such as Galway City may be at risk to the effects of climate change and sea level rise. The research involved an analysis of flooding events in Galway city over the last half a century, and attempted to discover a correlation between these events and the evolving sea level patterns which are being experienced at present. This research attempted to deduce whether a process such as global climate change may disrupt the apparent balance which once existed within the tidal/hydrological cycle or whether these disruptions were merely a natural progression of climatic variations which occur in cycles every couple of thousand years (eg.the last ice age). Niall is currently teaching in Austria.
