RESEARCH in geography

Geography at NUI Galway has built a strong reputation for research excellence, both nationally and internationally. Our research output, in terms of scholarly books and articles, policy contributions and civic engagement, clearly marks us out as being highly productive and passionate about our work. Our core objective, fostering high calibre research, is accomplished through our strong emphasis on field-based learning and in connecting theoretical and empirical concerns through problem and evidence-based approaches that impact on, and are useful to, a wide range of audiences – from academic colleagues to civil society. Current research output demonstrates this commitment with numerous international peer-reviewed journal articles, monographs, edited books, reports and policy documents published yearly. Further, the recognition of our scholarly endeavours is recognized in our many successes in the very competitive arenas of Framework 7, Marie Curie, INTERREG, PRTLI 4, EPA-STRIVE and IRCHSS.
