DEVELOPING THE INSTITUTIONAL INFRASTRUCTURE FOR 4TH LEVEL IRELAND
The objective of this SIF 2 collaborative project is to develop a Graduate School infrastructure in NUI Galway and UCC, with these structures being optimised for the delivery of 4th Level Ireland targets of increased PhD student numbers. The collaboration arose because both Universities have similar targets for development of Graduate School structures, and it is intended that they will share experience, and events such as workshops and training events, structured PhD programmes and inter-institutional collaboration. The development of Graduate Schools is in line with institutional strategy, and reflects the large-scale changes in University structure being undertaken. The ultimate aim is that Graduate Schools will form a key enabling element of institutional structures to oversee the ongoing development of graduate education.
