What's new for 2021/2022
News from our Colleges and Courses:
There are no new undergraduate degree programmes at NUI Galway for 2022 admissions. There are however, a number of new subjects and pathways on some of our most popular existing undergraduate degrees.
College of Arts, Social Sciences, and Celtic Studies
GY101 and GY129
Joint Honours Arts and Arts (Global Experiences)
There are now two new subject choices open to students on these degree programmes.
International Development
This new subject appears in Group 1 and (see page 29 of the prospectus) is a perfect subject option for a student who may be interested in a career with an NGO or the Department of Foreign Affairs. This subject choice is a four year as students benefit from a work placement in third year.
Performance and Screen Studies
This subject appears in Group 2 (please see page 29 of the prospectus) and involves the lecture-based study of drama, film, television, social media, sporting events, sport media, gaming, streaming and much more.
College of Science and Engineering
GY301 Bachelor of Science
Within this degree there is now a new science specialism open to students on second year of the degree programme – Physics and Climate Physics. This new degree pathway will be important in elucidating key processes driving climate change and enabling a response to the crisis at a regional, national and international level.
GY320 Bachelor of Science Physics (degree option- in Applied, Astrophysics, Biomedical, Theoretical, Climate)

News from our Campus:
Opening of Gold Crest Campus Village
In September 2018, the first residents of NUI Galway’s newest campus accommodation complex moved into ‘Goldcrest Village’, named after the smallest bird in Ireland (the Goldcrest) which can be spotted flitting around our beautiful, parkland campus!
The state-of-the-art, 429-bed residence located on the University campus, beside our existing, 764-bed residence, Corrib Village, and is comprised of 76 apartments. Each apartment contains 4, 5 or 6 en suite bedrooms and a kitchen/living area. For further details, please visit the Goldcrest website.
