This Certificate programme takes place over 1 year and aims to provide students with a professional education and training in the principles and practice of health promotion, with students taking a generic module, a specialist module and a practical project. The course is open to those working in a professional capacity in a specialist health promotion field.

The Certificate programme in a chosen specialism is a taught programme comprising the following three modules:
The first two modules include workshop participation and self paced instructional materials and assignments for home study,while the third module focuses on project work.

Each module carries 5 ECTS and successful graduates who wish to apply for the NUi Galway Postgraduate Diploma in Health Promotion programme can carry forward 5 ECTS from the specialism module completed as part of the Certificate programme.
