History has been included within the curriculum of the University since its foundation in 1849, although the first Professor of History was not appointed until 1914. The Department has a full-time teaching staff of fourteen, and has a strong research record as well as a commitment to teaching. There are around 600 undergraduates from all years taking courses in History.

History is pleased to announce our new waiting area on Floor 2 of Tower 1. 
A friendly relaxed area with seats, power points, cover sheets, stapler and pens.

History is located on Floor 1 and Floor 2 of Tower 1 in the Arts/Science Building.  Tower 1 is located just behind the Information & Parking office which is just inside the main doors of the Concourse (across from the library). 

The hub of History is on Floor 2, where you will find the full-time administrator, Ms Helena Condon, and part-time administrator, Ms Maura Walsh, as well as the offices of many staff members.  Room numbers in the 400 series are on Floor 2.

Floor 1 is shared with English.  You will find some History staff offices on Floor 1, as well as the History seminar rooms.  Room numbers in the 300 series are on Floor 1.
