POLICIES & PROCEDURES: RECRUITMENT: ALTERNATIVE SELECTION METHODS
Policy Statement - Alternative Selection Methods
Whilst short listing and interview remains the primary method of selection, there may be occasions when the procedures will be augmented by additional techniques including tests, group exercises, and job simulations. These techniques can aid objective assessments of a candidate's ability. However the use of such techniques requires a high degree of skill and training and their use will be carefully monitored to ensure they are free of bias and that they do not inadvertently discriminate against disadvantaged groups. For example, special facilities may be required when testing disabled candidates.
