Legal Framework of Recruitment

The University is governed by the provisions of the Freedom of
Information Act 1997. This act confers on individuals a legal right
of access to their own personnel information held by the University
and to their own employment records. It also confers on individuals
a legal right to have made know to them in writing the reasons for
decisions made by the University that have materially affected them.
The Chairperson of every Selection Board will therefore be
required to document the reasons for the decisions made by the
Selection Board in respect of each candidate, both at shortlisting
and final selection stage for release to candidates on request.
