The Department of Health has provided the Health Research Board with €7.5 million to fund the construction of a new building for the HRB Clinical Research Facility, Galway. With planning permission already received, construction is planned to get underway in 2011. This will provide Galway with world class facilities for researchers and industry and will enhance research development capacity in the medical device and pharmaceutical sectors. The CRFG will be built along with translational research laboratories which will provide facilities for processing and analysis of biospecimens. The new CRFG building will provide the following facilities for clinical research:
