Tom Aitchison

Tom Aitchison is a Statistician from Glasgow with over 150 peer-reviewed publications from more than 50 groups and departments in Glasgow and throughout the world across a wide range of subjects from Sports Science to Skin Cancer, Cardiac Rehab to Palliative Care, Radio-Carbon Dating to Sheep Digestion!  His philosophy is that Statistics is a “team game” and that theoretical statistics should only be for consenting adults in private!  He has spent 30+ years collaborating with many other disciplines and enjoys communication in all its forms.   Designing a good study, knowing what statistical techniques to use and how to understand the relevant results are his key elements for teaching Statistics in Practice.
