Kjell Anderson is the founder and executive director of human rights NGO Shared Humanity (
http://www.sharedhumanity.org/). Most recently he worked in Rwanda, Burundi, and the Democratic Republic of Congo as a program coordinator at FACT-Rwanda (Forum des Activistes Contre la Torture, a Rwandan NGO dealing primarily with torture and sexual violence). He has conducted human rights training sessions and public seminars for the Rwandan National Police, the Montréal Institute for Genocide Studies, and Rwandan secondary school teachers. He has also acted as an expert witness for the Immigration and Refugee Board of Canada. Anderson is currently a PhD candidate at the Irish Centre for Human Rights where, under the joint supervision of William Schabas and Frank Chalk, he is developing a criminology of genocide. This multi-disciplinary research utilises law, sociology, political science, criminology, and social psychology in order to link social structures and processes with individual perpetration of the crime of genocide. With this causal knowledge, a comprehensive framework for the upstream prevention of genocide will be established.
