Jason is currently a doctoral candidate at the Irish Centre for Human Rights. His research focuses on social, economic and cultural rights and development with particular emphasis on the role of non-state actors as participants in international law. He is particularly interested in regional human rights mechanisms and their role in creating the legal basis for expanding ESC rights and non-state accountability to violations. Jason has previously worked for the Leadership Council for Human Rights in Washington, DC, as Project Director and Liaison to the US House of Representatives' Human Rights Commission. Since 2006, Jason has served as Executive Director of Primerights, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization he founded specializing in consulting and project development and implementation of on the ground initiatives using a global network of scholars and human rights practitioners. Recently, the organization has focused on recognition of ESC rights of the Mapuche people, Chile's largest indigenous group, in their quest to reclaim traditional lands from international logging corporations. Primerights promotes local solutions to global human rights problems.
