Dr Michelle Farrell currently holds the NUI (National University of Ireland) EJ Phelan Postgraduate Fellowship in International Law. She is based, as a member of faculty, at the Irish Centre for Human Rights, National University of Ireland, Galway. Michelle holds a PhD in Law and an LLM in International Human Rights Law from the National University of Ireland, Galway and a BA in European Studies from Trinity College Dublin.
In 2008/9, Michelle was a Teaching Fellow on the
E.MA in Human Rights and Democratisation at the European Inter-University Centre for Human Rights and Democratisation where, amongst other things, she lectured in international law. In 2006 and 2007, Michelle was a PhD Fellow at the Irish Centre for Human Rights.
Michelle researches on a variety of topics in the fields of international human rights law and international humanitarian law including the prohibition of torture and the application of human rights in states of emergency. Michelle is currently teaching Introduction to Human Rights Law and Counter-Terrorism and Human Rights.
