Areas of Specialisation
Prof. Cunnane’s experience covers flood hydrology, arterial drainage design, low flow hydrology, lake regulation problems and rainfall - runoff modelling. He is recognised internationally as an expert in statistical applications in hydrology and was commissioned by the World Meteorological Organisation, Geneva to write its Operational Hydrology Report on Statistical Distributions for Flood Hydrology.
He has consultancy experience in Botswana, Burkino Fasso, Nigeria and Tanzania as well as in Ireland and Germany. He is the author/joint author of more than 20 publications in Ireland, U.K. and internationally as well as Editorial Advisor and reviewer for several journals and publishers. He is Chairman of the Irish National Committee of IHP and has been honoured by the Institution of Engineers of Ireland by the award of the Mullins silver Medal, the Institution Prize and by the Fellowship of the Institution.
