What is the iapah project?

The purpose of the study is to measure air pollutants in homes that use solid fuels such as, peat, coal or wood for heating or cooking or homes which have a resident smoker. There are two aspects to the study;

• Measurement of air pollution levels in homes
• Assessing how air pollution in homes affects our health

Recruitment of households to participate in the study will commence in May 2009. As people are more likely to be using solid fuels to heat their home over the Autumn to Spring period, we plan to carry out measurements in participating homes between October 2009 to March 2010.
