Research

We are dedicated to conducting innovative research which will lead to best outcomes for all individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and related neurological conditions. Our mission is to conduct empirically validated research which will shape best practice in the areas of assessment, intervention, education and government policy.

Staff and students conduct research in a wide variety of areas including:

an investigation of evidence-based treatments and non-scientific practices in the treatment of autism spectrum disorder;
behavioural procedures to increase socially significant behaviour;
behavioural procedures to decrease and eliminate challenging behaviour;
longitudinal investigations of the effectiveness of applied behaviour analysis in the education and treatment of children with developmental disorders;
large scale Irish studies to inform policy makers in the area of service design and appropriate intervention;
the use of bio-feedback mechanisms in the treatment of challenging behaviour;
assessment and treatment of severe problem behavior;
evaluation of behavioural curricula to improve reading abilities;
validation of behavioural assessment tools;
investigations of the co-variation of variables within developmental disabilities;
comparison of treatment programmes for problem behaviours.

	Students on the MSc in ABA are placed in Early Intensive Behavioural Intervention programmes, ASD Units and Adult Services.			We conduct research which will lead to best outcomes for all individuals with ASD.			We provide high-level research-led education and training for practitioners in the diagnosis of ASD and other neurodevelopmental conditions.
