B.Sc. Rural Development
Students on the B.Sc. Rural Development came together here in NUI, Galway on Friday 12th. and Saturday 13th. February for workshops and a seminar. Lecturers from the Discipline of Economics delivered modules on Rural Tourism, Health & Social Service Policy as well as Social Exclusion and Gender Equality Issues in Rural Development.
Two former students of the B.Sc. Rural Development gave presentations on their current entrepreneurial activities and were joined by Brendan Dunford of Burren Life and Roger Fahy an entrepreneur in the Burren.
The weekend workshops were launched by Professor John McHale, Head of the Discipline of Economics who welcomed the students from UCD, UCC, NUI, Maynooth and NUI, Galway.
The President of NUI, Galway, Dr. Jim Browne spoke with the students on Saturday and praised both students and staff for their diligence and effort over the weekend.
ICERTS recently hosted a Forum for Research on Rural Balanced Development, Sustainability and Natural Resource Management. Researchers from diverse schools within the university as well as researchers from the Rural Economy Research Centre (RERC)presented their work during the day long forum. CERTS will host a Seminar on Wednesday February 18th. in the SAC Room in St. Anthonys starting at 10a.m. The topics to be presented will involve issues in Rural Development and will be presented by researchers from the different schools in the university. Directions to SAC Room Go through the double doors inside the main door of St. Anthonys and then turn right and the SAC room is first door on right.
ICERTS will host a Seminar on Thursday February 26th. at 10a.m. , in CA0004 when the PhD students working with ICERTS will present an overview of the topics thay are researching. If you are free for an hour or two we would be delighted to see you there.
