Thomas Scharf is Professor of Social Gerontology and became Director of the Irish Centre for Social Gerontology in 2010. He has research interests in the social policy of ageing, and ageing in contrasting types of environment. A particular focus is on issues around social inclusion and exclusion in later life. |

Kieran Walsh is the research officer in the ICSG. His research interests include older adult ability functioning, environmental gerontology, the benefits of assistive technology, long-term care provision and inappropriate placement of older adults in residential care. |

Aine Ni Leime joined the Irish Centre for Social Gerontology in April, 2006 where she is employed as a researcher. She is also responsible for teaching and course coordination. Her research interests include research methodology, sociology of the labour market, equality issues including gender and ageing, rural development, social gerontology and critical theory. |

Christine De Largy joined the ICSG as development officer in March 2006. Previously, Christine was the team leader in the Payroll and Contracts Office at the National University of Ireland. |

Gemma Carney is a post-doctoral researcher under the Irish Social Science Platform at NUI Galway. Gemma comes to ICSG from the Irish Senior Citizens Parliament, a national representative organization for older people. |

Paddy Gillespie joined the ICSG as a post-doctoral researcher in economics in April 2010. His research interests include health economics and in particular health technology assessment.
