Blackboard Service Restored
Thursday, 23rd of December, 2010
Update: Monday 10th January 11:00
Access to the Blackboard Virtual Learning Environment which had been significantly disrupted from 20:00 on December 22nd 2010 was restored to full service on Friday January 7th 2011 at 13:30.
The disruption to service arose from a level of external access to the Blackboard infrastructure which greatly exceeded previous norms and resulted in a degradation of performance. The source of this traffic has been identified and has been blocked by changes to our security configuration. Traffic volumes and performance levels have now returned to previous norms.
ISS can reassure staff and students that the integrity of the Blackboard infrastructure, its academic content, and staff and student accounts has been maintained throughout this period.
ISS apologise for the inconvenience caused by this disruption. A Critical Incident Report will be prepared and published on the ISS website in due course.
