Hoax/Phishing Emails in Circulation
Hoax ’phishing’ email messages are currently in circulation on the staff email service, some of which have a subject line: "Update your Contact Details". This email asks you to go to a weblink to activate your free Internet Security Suite (ISS) account. Please delete this mail if you receive it as it does not originate from ISS or other legitimate source in the University.
Please be reminded that Information Solutions and Services (ISS)
do NOT and WILL NEVER request details of your password by email or ask you to register online to activate your Internet Security Suite. If you receive a message asking for your email account details, delete it without response.
If you have already replied to emails of this nature or clicked on a web link within an email and provided your password, you must now contact the ISS Service Desk to ensure your account has not been compromised.
If you have any doubt that you may have provided NUI, Galway staff email credentials (i.e. user name and/or password) you should change your email password immediately.
Click here to follow the online instructions.
More information on phishing is available online.
Please contact the Service Desk (Tel. x5777 eMail servicedesk@nuigalway.ie) if you have any additional queries.
