Student EMail Issue (“Delivery Failed” Message When Emailing Staff Members)
Friday, 21st of December, 2012
Student EMail Issue (“Delivery Failed” Message When Emailing Staff Members):
Some students have experienced issues when sending emails to University staff members.
Impacted users are receiving the following error-return from the email service:
Delivery has failed to these recipients or groups:
The email address that you entered couldn’t be found. Check the address and try resending the message. If the problem continues, please contact your helpdesk.
This issue arises in cases where a student’s email client retains a ‘cached’ ‘auto-complete’ or ‘nickname’ entry for the email address of a staff-member with whom they have previously corresponded.
Following changes made on the back-end of the staff email service, these cached auto-complete entries may no longer be valid in some cases. Students impacted by the issue are advised to clear all email contacts from cache/autocomplete/nicknames.
We apologise for any inconvenience caused.
If you have any queries in relation to this advisory notice please contact the ISS Service Desk by email to servicedesk@nuigalway.ie or by telephone at 091 495777.
